The gallery OUT-POST located in the natural reserve Serra Da Estrella offers aspiring artists a place to step out of their origin position. Through the residency program and exhibition space located within the natural reserve away from the city's daily life. Artists have a chance to experience a different rhythm within their arts, to reflect on different aspects of their practice then the reflections of their “normal” life and environment.

OUT-POST focuses primarily on research-based art, where the findings of the artists and the stories that unfold through their presentation stand’s central. Their “art” is almost the remnant of what is truly important.

OUT-POST represents a selection of the international artists that work through this research-based practice. Their works, presenting a subjective truth about various topics’, often contain a playful character. Even when the subject is bleak, also provides hope for a better future.

Pan Vanitcharoenthum

We are thrilled to announce that Pan Vanitcharoenthum, a talented storyteller, fine artist, designer, and adventurer, will be joining us for an artist residency from April 21 to May 7. During his stay, Pan will explore the deteriorating nature of Serra de Estrela, learning about how plants and animals in the area are doing and communicating with nature through hiking and sketching. Using techniques such as 3D scanning and coding, he will create an archive that shares the stories and connections of those plants and animals to the surrounding landscape, reminding us to preserve what is still existing.

Pan's work challenges us to rethink nature, human, and the use of technology, as he explores the relationship between humans and nature through his art. He is currently studying for a Master of Fine Art program at HKU University in Utrecht and is researching how to make artworks accessible for blind and visually impaired people. He has also worked on a workshop called "The Digital Landscape," where participants collaborate to design a landscape in the digital world, and an installation called "Second Nature," which questions humanity's relationship to nature through the use of augmented reality and virtual space.

We are excited to welcome Pan to our residency and cannot wait to see what he will create during his stay.
